Plastic surgery is undoubtedly a complicated procedure. There is no denying of the fact that one has to be careful about choosing a skilled surgeon for plastic cosmetic surgery. But what many don’t pay heed to is that one must be mindful about certain preparatory steps prior to undertaking the surgery. Your surgeon will give you a checklist to be followed religiously. And yes, the preparation for the procedure will begin minimum couple of months in advance.
Two months prior to the surgery
Whether you are a regular smoker or an occasional one, make sure to stop smoking minimum 2 months ahead of your procedure. Smoking decreases level of oxygen in the body and that interferes with the healing process.
Lose unnecessary weight
You don’t have to be completely slim & trim here. But you have to maintain a minimum reasonable weight and have to get rid of all the excess pounds as much as possible. Obesity may create issues during the surgery and can twist the outcomes as well. Your surgeon will note about the desired ideal weight for your surgery. Your aim would be to reach to that “ideal” figure as much as possible. But don’t go for any crash diet here. The best thing would be to consult a seasoned nutritionist about a realistic and effective diet chart.
Two weeks prior to the surgery
- You have to stop taking all sorts of herbal supplements, if any
- Stick to a healthy balanced diet
- Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated
- You can’t take aspirin or any other product that contain aspirin
- You cannot take anti-inflammatory drugs
- Go for medical evaluation
- Get post-operative medications beforehand
Try to stay healthy. If you get sick, the doctor will only postpone your surgery.
